About Black Youth Project 100
Black Youth Project 100 (BYP100) is a national, member-based human rights organization dedicated to empowering Black activists and organizers aged 18-35 across the United States, with a strong presence in Chicago, IL. Operating at the intersection of human rights advocacy and nonprofit work, BYP100 specializes in transformative leadership development, direct action organizing, policy advocacy, and political education grounded in a Black queer feminist framework. The organization builds networks of young Black changemakers committed to creating systemic justice and freedom for all Black people. BYP100's comprehensive approach combines multiple strategies for social change, recognizing that complex problems facing Black communities require innovative, experimental solutions developed by those most impacted. Through their work in Chicago and nationally, BYP100 engages young people in campaigns that address economic inequality, social injustice, political disenfranchisement, and educational disparities. The organization partners with other Black-led movements rather than competing with them, creating a collaborative ecosystem of resistance and transformation. BYP100's commitment to direct action, combined with their emphasis on political education and leadership development, positions them as a distinctive force in contemporary Black liberation work. They center the voices and experiences of the most marginalized within Black communities, including Black queer and trans folks, Black immigrants, and those impacted by mass incarceration, ensuring that their advocacy reflects the full diversity and complexity of Black life in America.
