About Essex-Hudson Chapter of Jack & Jill of America, Inc.
Jack and Jill of America, Inc., is a membership organization of mothers with children ages 2 – 19, dedicated to nurturing future African American leaders by strengthening children through leadership development, volunteer service, philanthropic giving and civic duty. Founded in January 24, 1938, Jack and Jill boasts more than 245 chapters nationwide, in 7 regions, representing more than 40,000 family members. Each chapter plans annual programming activities guided under a general five point programmatic thrust: cultural awareness, educational development, health (education and advocacy), civic (legislative advocacy and service) and social/recreational areas.
As part of the Eastern Region, which is comprised of 59 chapters, the Essex-Hudson Chapter of Jack & Jill of America, Inc. is a community of 53 families based in Essex and Hudson counties of New Jersey. Essex-Hudson began its history in 2006 when our charter members came together with the common goal of creating a positive, culturally enriching, fun and educational, network for our children. Over the past 14 years, through our shared diverse experiences and perspectives, we have created stimulating and enriching family oriented activities that raise the bar for our children as well as those in our communities.
We strive to be innovative in our thinking and progressive in our actions. We respect each other and each other's time. As such, we commit to operating efficiently, being timely, and listening and communicating effectively. We will work together in a team oriented manner to be supportive of each other and nurturing to the family of Essex-Hudson children and ultimately create years of memorable and inspirational moments.
