About Greater Hartford Chapter Jack and Jill of America, Inc.
The Greater Hartford Chapter of Jack & Jill of America, Inc. was founded in 1958 by a small group of mothers who wanted to expand the social, cultural, and extracurricular opportunities for their children in The Greater Hartford community. At the time there were chapters in many of the large cities in the Northeast, and Hartford, the state capital, was thought to be an obvious place to establish a chapter of this quickly expanding national organization.
Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated, is a premier African-American organization of mothers who are dedicated to nurturing and strengthening children between the ages of 2-19. Our focus is developing our children as strong future leaders while keeping community service in their hearts. Within the Greater Hartford community, our families are very active in serving as leaders and helping to develop our children into well-rounded citizens. Throughout our program year, our innovative children and family programs are designed by our own mother members and focus on numerous topics including leadership development, civic engagement, community service, educational excellence, financial literacy and cultural heritage.
