About Thurgood Marshall Law Society
Originally the Rhode Island Black Lawyers Association, the organization was reorganized in 2003 as the Thurgood Marshall Law Society (TMLS) to promote a greater scope of inclusivity in promoting the support and growth of diversity of the judiciary, bar association and related legal professionals and students in the State of Rhode Island and southern New England.
Advancing the active participation of attorneys, judges, law professors and law students of color in the science of jurisprudence.
Our mission is to uphold the honor of the legal profession, to promote collaboration and networking among Rhode Island attorneys, and to protect the civil and political rights of all citizens of the State of Rhode Island.
